The best baby crib bedding sets coordinate nursery textiles, but only a snug fitted sheet belongs on an infant's sleep mattress. These picks include character, animal and floral designs, along with several toddler sets for families planning a bed transition.

A set can make the crib area look finished with a matching quilt or skirt. Those pieces are for decoration, so plan the sleep space around a fitted sheet and a bare mattress.

For safe setup, start with How to Choose Crib Bedding Safely: What to Consider and check the federal baby crib safety regulations. If you're comparing a lighter palette, see our best white crib bedding set guide.

How we chose baby crib bedding sets

We compared the set contents, fabric descriptions, themes and stated mattress fit to find options for different nursery styles and bed stages. Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for.

A three-piece crib set commonly combines a fitted sheet with a quilt or comforter and a skirt. The bedding coordinates the room, but the fitted sheet is the only one of those pieces intended to cover the mattress during infant sleep.

Some picks here are toddler bedding sets with top sheets and pillowcases. Those are included for readers planning a transition, and aren't presented as infant crib sleep essentials.

Compare the best baby crib bedding sets

The main difference is which pieces each set includes and whether it is designed as crib or toddler bedding. Match the sheet to the mattress, then choose the colors and characters that fit your nursery.

Coordinated crib sets for character nurseries

Character sets use quilts, sheets and skirts to bring a theme across the crib area. Treat the quilt and skirt as decor, and choose the fitted sheet by its mattress fit.

1

Lambs & Ivy Disney Baby Winnie: Best for a classic character nursery

9.7/10Our score

• 3 pieces: quilt, fitted crib sheet, crib skirt
• Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet patchwork
• Soft microfiber

A soft pastel character set with a coordinated sheet and skirt. Its quilt and skirt are decorative pieces, while the fitted sheet is the part intended for the mattress.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Includes 3 coordinated pieces
• Soft pastel palette
• Machine washable

Cons

• Quilt and skirt should stay out of the sleep space

Lambs & Ivy's Winnie the Pooh set has a soft pastel palette with Pooh, Tigger and Piglet in patchwork. The three pieces are a quilt, fitted crib sheet and crib skirt, so the set gives you a coordinated look across the mattress and crib frame.

The quilt has an appliqued and embroidered Pooh, while the sheet repeats the characters with stars, clouds and moon details. The set is made with soft microfiber, and the care instructions say machine wash.

Best for a classic character nursery where pastel colors and familiar storybook figures are the main design choice. Keep the quilt and skirt out of the crib during sleep, and use only the sheet if it fits the mattress snugly.

2

Lambs & Ivy Disney Baby Pooh Bear: Best for cotton character details

9.6/10Our score

• 3 pieces: cotton quilt, cotton fitted sheet, crib skirt
• Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger
• Fitted sheet is 100% cotton

This set pairs a cotton fitted sheet with a character quilt and decorative skirt. The sheet is the sleep-space piece; keep the quilt and skirt outside the crib.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Cotton across the set
• Character artwork on coordinated pieces
• Machine washable

Cons

• Includes decorative pieces that are not for sleep

Lambs & Ivy's Pooh Bear & Pals set pairs a cotton quilt, a breathable 100% cotton fitted sheet and a cotton crib skirt. Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger appear across the pieces, with “It's always better together” embroidered on the quilt.

The sheet has character art and text arranged as a placement print. The skirt adds an appliqued Pooh and Piglet detail with a tassel fringe trim, making it a decorative nursery piece rather than a sleep item.

Best for cotton character details, especially if you want the fitted sheet and quilt to share a classic Pooh theme. Use the fitted sheet alone on the mattress for infant sleep, and keep the other pieces aside.

3

The Peanutshell 3 Piece Baby Crib Bedding: Best for a dinosaur theme

9.5/10Our score

• 3 pieces: quilt, fitted sheet, bed skirt
• Dinosaur theme in sage green and white
• Microfiber

Playful dinosaur prints and a sage-and-white palette coordinate the crib area. The fitted sheet is for the mattress; the quilt and skirt are decorative.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Three coordinated pieces
• Standard crib sheet fit is specified
• Machine washable

Cons

• Quilt should not be used as loose crib bedding

The Peanutshell set gives a dinosaur theme in sage green and white. For more color ideas, browse green baby crib bedding.

Its three pieces are a crib quilt, fitted sheet and bed skirt, all made from microfiber and described as machine washable.

The fitted sheet is designed for a standard 28 x 52 in crib mattress and has all-around elastic. For compact beds, compare girls' mini crib bedding sets by mattress size.

Check your mattress dimensions before buying, since a secure fit matters more than matching the print. For more compact designs, compare boys' mini crib bedding sets.

Best for a dinosaur theme with a softer green palette. The quilt and skirt can coordinate the room, while the fitted sheet is the piece to use on the mattress.

4

Cloele 3 Pieces Crib Bedding Set: Best for a purple butterfly look

9.4/10Our score

• 3 pieces: fitted sheet, comforter, crib skirt
• Purple butterfly and floral theme
• Polyester

The purple butterfly pattern ties together the sheet, comforter and skirt. Check the sheet dimensions against your mattress, and use the comforter only as a decorative textile.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Coordinated butterfly design
• Includes a fitted sheet
• Machine washable

Cons

• Comforter is not for an unattended sleep space

Cloele's purple butterfly set includes a fitted sheet, floral butterfly comforter and purple crib skirt. The sheet is given as 52 x 28 in, and all three pieces are polyester.

The maker describes the set as fitting a standard size toddler bed, so compare that claim with your crib or toddler mattress before ordering. The comforter and skirt complete the decorative theme, but should stay out of an infant's sleep space.

Best for a purple butterfly look with matching florals across the sheet and comforter. If you need a smaller mattress, compare best mini crib comforter sets and verify dimensions before choosing.

Floral and animal crib bedding sets

Floral and animal patterns offer a coordinated nursery look without relying on licensed characters. Compare the fitted sheet measurements and keep decorative quilts or comforters out of the sleep area.

5

FIGEPO Baby Girl Crib Bedding Set Pink: Best for pink elephant decor

9.3/10Our score

• 3 pieces: quilt, fitted sheet, bed skirt
• Pink elephant theme
• Quilt contains cotton

A pink elephant design gives the crib area a coordinated theme. The set includes a fitted sheet, quilt and skirt, so keep the quilt and skirt out of the sleep space.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Three coordinated pieces
• Fitted sheet dimensions are stated
• Machine washable on gentle cycle

Cons

• Decorative quilt is not a sleep essential

FIGEPO's pink elephant set includes a quilt, fitted sheet and crib skirt. The quilt measures 32 x 42 in, the fitted sheet is 28 x 52 in, and the skirt has a 10 in drop.

The quilt contains cotton, while the set's fabric type is listed as 100% polyester. Its care instructions call for a gentle machine wash, with low tumble drying or line drying.

Best for pink elephant decor if you want the theme across three nursery pieces. Check that the fitted sheet suits your mattress, and reserve the quilt and skirt for decoration.

9

Tudomro 3 Pieces Butterfly Baby Crib Bedding: Best for pink butterfly patchwork

8.9/10Our score

• 3 pieces: comforter, fitted sheet, crib skirt
• Pink butterfly and floral patchwork
• Polyester microfiber comforter

A patchwork butterfly design coordinates three nursery textiles, including a fitted sheet. Compare the sheet size and pocket depth with your mattress before buying.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Three coordinated pieces
• Fitted sheet dimensions and pocket depth are stated
• Machine washable

Cons

• Comforter and skirt are decorative pieces

Tudomro combines pink butterflies and flowers in a patchwork design. Its three pieces are a polyester microfiber comforter, a polyester fitted sheet measuring 52 x 28 in with an 8 in deep pocket, and a crib skirt with a 15 in drop.

The sheet has elastic intended to help hold it around the mattress. Compare both the mattress dimensions and pocket depth before choosing it, especially if your mattress is thicker than usual.

Best for pink butterfly patchwork when you want the comforter, sheet and skirt to share one print. The comforter and skirt are decorative, leaving the fitted sheet as the only piece for the crib mattress during infant sleep.

When should you choose a toddler bedding set?

Choose toddler bedding when your child is using a toddler bed and you want coordinated sheets, a comforter or quilt, and a pillowcase. These four-piece options include loose bedding, so they are not infant crib sleep sets.

6

Paw Patrol Calling All Pups 4 Piece: Best for a Paw Patrol toddler bed

9.2/10Our score

• 4 pieces: comforter, fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcase
• Blue Paw Patrol character design
• 100% polyester

This four-piece set is aimed at a toddler bed transition and includes top-sheet and pillowcase pieces. It is not a crib sleep setup; check your child's bed stage before choosing it.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Four coordinated pieces
• Machine washable
• Made for a toddler bed transition

Cons

• Includes loose bedding and a pillowcase

Paw Patrol's Calling All Pups set includes a comforter, fitted bottom sheet, flat top sheet and reversible pillowcase. Its blue design features Chase, Marshall, Rubble and other Paw Patrol characters.

The set is 100% polyester and machine washable. It is described for a standard crib or toddler mattress as toddler bedding, which makes the intended bed stage an important part of the choice.

Best for a Paw Patrol toddler bed when a child is ready for a coordinated character set. For infant sleep, leave the flat sheet, comforter and pillowcase out of the crib.

7

Disney 4 Piece Minnie's Fluttery Friends Toddler: Best for a Minnie toddler room

9.1/10Our score

• 4 pieces: comforter, fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcase
• Lavender Minnie Mouse theme
• Machine washable

Lavender Minnie artwork coordinates the toddler bed's comforter, sheets and pillowcase. Choose this for a toddler bed setup, not as a crib bedding arrangement.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Four coordinated pieces
• Machine washable
• Lavender character design

Cons

• Includes loose bedding and a pillowcase

Disney's Minnie set has a lavender floral design and four pieces: a comforter, fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcase. It is machine washable, with coordinating pieces available separately.

The set is described as toddler bedding and fits a standard toddler mattress. That makes it a better match for a toddler bed setup than an infant crib sleep space.

Best for a Minnie toddler room with lavender colors and matching bed textiles. Keep the loose comforter, top sheet and pillowcase out of an infant's crib.

8

Disney Cars Rusteze Racing Team 4 Piece: Best for a Cars toddler bed

9.0/10Our score

• 4 pieces: quilted bedspread, fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcase
• Cars character theme
• 100% polyester microfiber

The racing theme runs across the bedspread, sheets and pillowcase. It fits a standard crib or toddler mattress as a toddler bedding set, but the extra pieces are not for an infant sleep space.

See it on Amazon

Pros

• Four coordinated pieces
• Standard crib/toddler mattress dimensions are given
• Machine washable

Cons

• Top sheet, bedspread and pillowcase are loose bedding

The Disney Cars set coordinates a quilted bedspread, fitted bottom sheet, flat top sheet and standard pillowcase. Its red, blue and yellow design features characters and symbols from Cars 3.

The set fits a standard crib or toddler mattress measuring 28 x 52 in, but it is specifically a toddler bedding set. It is made of 100% polyester microfiber and is machine washable.

Best for a Cars toddler bed where the racing theme can carry across all four pieces. The flat sheet, bedspread and pillowcase are loose bedding, so don't use them in an infant sleep space.

What should you check before buying a baby crib bedding set?

Check the mattress size, fitted sheet fit, included pieces and intended bed stage before choosing a set. A crib set's decorative appeal does not determine whether its extra pieces are suitable for infant sleep.

Start by measuring your mattress and comparing it with the sheet dimensions. Read [What Is a Fitted Crib Sheet?

What to Know](/what-is-a-fitted-crib-sheet/) if you need help distinguishing a fitted sheet from top sheets or decorative covers.

Then confirm what the set includes. A quilt, comforter, bedspread, skirt, flat sheet or pillowcase may coordinate the nursery, but keep loose items out of an infant's crib.

For other nursery add-ons, see baby crib accessories.

If you're shopping for a compact crib, use our best mini crib bedding sets guide to focus on smaller mattress dimensions. Standard crib sets may not fit mini mattresses securely.

For a room designed around white textiles, our best white crib bedding sets guide compares options by theme and pieces. Choose a color after confirming the fitted sheet works with your mattress.

Which baby crib bedding set should you choose?

Choose Lambs & Ivy Winnie for pastel Pooh characters, Pooh Bear & Pals for cotton character details, or The Peanutshell for sage dinosaur decor. For butterfly or elephant themes, compare the sheet dimensions before selecting Cloele, FIGEPO or Tudomro.

If your child is moving into a toddler bed, consider one of the Paw Patrol, Minnie or Cars four-piece sets. For any infant crib, use a snug fitted sheet and follow safe crib bedding guidance while keeping quilts and other loose pieces out.

Frequently asked questions

What comes in a baby crib bedding set?

A baby crib bedding set may bundle a fitted sheet with decorative pieces such as a quilt, comforter or crib skirt. The exact mix varies, so check each set's included items and treat everything except a snug fitted sheet as nursery decor rather than sleep bedding.

Toddler sets may also add a flat sheet and pillowcase.

Are crib bedding sets safe for a baby's sleep space?

For an infant's sleep space, use a firm, flat mattress with only a fitted sheet that fits snugly. Keep quilts, comforters, pillows and other loose items out of the crib.

A coordinated set can decorate the nursery, but its extra pieces do not belong in the crib while a baby sleeps.

How do I choose the right fitted crib sheet?

Match the sheet to the mattress dimensions and check that it fits snugly with elastic holding it in place. A sheet meant for a standard crib may not fit a mini crib mattress.

See what a fitted crib sheet is and what to know before comparing set pieces.

Can I use a crib bedding set on a mini crib?

Only if the fitted sheet is made for that mini crib mattress size and fits securely. Standard crib sheets can be too large for a mini mattress, even when the rest of the set looks suitable.

Compare options in our guide to best mini crib bedding sets.
